Our Fruit

Oolu is real fruit, put to work. Every can starts with actual fruit and adds one thing that does a job, and that is the whole idea, beginning to end. We think fruit is good enough to build a drink around, so we do, and then we ask each can to be useful at a particular hour of the day.

Who makes it

Oolu comes from the people behind Urban Artifact in Cincinnati, who have spent years learning what fruit can actually do. More than two hundred different fruits have moved through our hands by now, in beer, wine, soda, smoothies, and in long arguments about what a fruit tastes like at the exact top of its ripeness. That is the unglamorous education sitting behind every can. We are fruit people first, and Oolu is what happens when fruit people decide a drink should also be useful.

Real fruit, real juice

Every Oolu is built on real fruit juice. We use juice rather than the thick puree that goes into our brewing work, because juice keeps the fruit bright and lets it lead at the lighter calorie and sugar levels these cans aim for. We sweeten gently, and never with artificial sweeteners. If the fruit is real, faking the sweetness makes no sense.

Functions with a role

Oolu comes in four lanes, each named for the job it does.

Wake is the morning lane. Real fruit juice with a light caffeine for a lift that stays well under an energy drink. The can for the slow start and the afternoon slump.

Balance is the middle of the day. Real fruit juice with soluble fiber and a little magnesium, kept low in sugar. A can with some substance to it.

Fortify is the loaded one. Real fruit juice with electrolytes, vitamin C, and zinc, for the days you are run down, traveling, or worn out.

Calm is the evening. Real fruit juice with kava root, a plant people in the South Pacific have been drinking for centuries. The can for the end of the day.

No theater

We tell you what is in the can and what it does, in fruit terms, and we stop there. No wellness performance, no mystery actives, no promises a drink cannot keep. The fruit is real and it does a job. That is enough to put on a label, so that is what we put.
